WALES returned with six medals from the 2009 Commonwealth Veterans' Fencing Championships in Jersey, including double gold for North London Sabre Club's Rob Penton, in individual men's sabre and as part of the successful men's sabre team.

The women's sabre team returned with silver, while there were three foil bronze medals: for Lynda Norrie in the women's individual event and both men's and women's teams.

At epee, Wales were narrowly beaten for the bronze medal in both team third-place play-off matches.

URGENT - UKSG 2009 Print E-mail
Written by Carl Difford

Welsh Fencing needs someone to help promote fencing at this year's UK School Games in Cardiff.

The volunteer would need to set up (or get others to set up) a 'stall' at the entrance to the fencing hall at the event (Friday, September 4, to Sunday, September 6), displaying posters and leaflets gathered from Welsh Fencing clubs, then for at least some of the three days to man the stall (or get others to do so), giving basic advice to spectators about fencing in Wales, how to get in touch with clubs, etc, (which will mainly involve steering them to this website and distributing leaflets). As this is outside the main hall, CRB clearance and SPC training is not a requirement.

Initially, UKSG want the name of a 'lead exhibitor' to contact in this respect, although the task can be done by a team of people if preferred.

Please contact Carl Difford - publicity@gwentswordclub.co.uk - if you are willing and able to take on this role.
